Nestled in Middle Tennessee is the second largest micropolitan area of Tennessee. Tullahoma is a town situated among three counties (Coffee, Franklin and Moore) and is home to right at 18,000 residents and many businesses. Our favorite business from the area (granted, we may be a bit biased) is Prescott Bottling & Distributing Company.
We are a company founded in 1934. As the United States was recovering from the Great Depression, Prescott Bottling and Distributing was being created. Today, we are still a family owned business providing jobs for 30+ employees in Tennessee.
What makes our story so interesting and exciting right now? The Sun Drop brand started out as a regional “secret” of sorts. Our brand was once owned by Crush, International, as well as Cadbury Schweppes, Blackstone, and Proctor and Gamble. Currently, the Sun Drop brand is owned by Dr. Pepper/ Snapple (DPSG), and distributed by Prescott. The marketing and brand ownership for Sun Drop has evolved, but the original Citrus flavored soft drink has remained pretty much the same and continues to gain followers.
Demand for our product has grown to the point that we are now moving on to conquer the WORLD… but we’re starting with the United States. Our fans in the Southeast are already in love with Sun Drop. To the rest of the world, prepare to get dropped. We are launching a HUGE campaign dropping Sun Drop into every Walmart, Kroger and more across the nation. During 2011, we are moving to make Prescott Bottling & Distributing and our flagship soft drink Sun Drop a household name from the coast to coast.
How are we going to Drop It?
- We have already begun dropping Sun Drop in national stores including WalMart, Dollar General and Kroger.
- TV Spots will be aired on MTV’s “The Real World” beginning March 25, 2011.
- On March 9, 2011, we will begin airing non MTV commercial spots.
- We have launched a HUGE effort to grow our fans on Facebook and will continue growing our interactive efforts.
Prescott Bottling is active in the community as well. We believe in giving back to the community which has provided us the opportunity to serve them.
- Sun Drop is a sponsor of NASCAR car number 01. (The late Dale Earnhardt was a fan of Sun Drop & was on 6 commemorative bottles from 1994 – 1995.)
- We provide helmets and shirts for the Annual Soap Box Derby in Tullahoma TN. For the past 10 years, Sun Drop has entered 2 cars and paid the registration for two kids to participate in this event.
- Prescott Bottling & Distributing contributes each month to Five Loaves 4 Kids an organization that sends a bag of food home with needy children each Thursday. We also provide volunteers from our office to assist in packing food bags twice a month.
- Each July, we sponsor the Take A Kid Fishing Rodeo which is sponsored by the Winchester TN Bass Masters Club.
- We sponsor the memorial Jonathan Acklen fishing tournament each year.
- Additionally, Prescott Bottling & Distributing and Sun Drop sponsor various sporting teams in the area.
